San Francisco based cloud security startup Upwind has raised a 400 million dollar Series C financing round at a 3.8 billion dollar valuation, TechCrunch and Dealroom reported. TechCrunch noted that Bessemer Venture Partners led the investment, with participation from existing backers including Greylock Partners and Craft Ventures. [1][3]
The financing closed nine months after Upwind raised a 250 million dollar round at a 1.5 billion dollar valuation, according to TechCrunch. TechCrunch reported that the funding was in development for months and nearly collapsed after Datadog attempted to purchase the business. Upwind ultimately walked away from Datadog's acquisition offer, which valued the company at the same 3.8 billion dollar figure, TechCrunch and Dealroom reported. [1][3]
Upwind uses artificial intelligence to secure cloud infrastructure, TechCrunch reported. Datadog is a publicly traded American company headquartered in New York City that provides a software-as-a-service observability and monitoring platform for cloud-scale applications. [1][5]
Olivier Pomel and Alexis Lê-Quôc founded Datadog in 2010 to address distributed system monitoring challenges in cloud computing. [6]
