A software developer named Thomas has launched free, open source alternatives to Adobe Creative Cloud applications, Ars Technica reported. The applications were built using Opus and released under MIT and Apache software licenses. [1]

Thomas stated on Hacker News that he decided to build the software after encountering Adobe cancellation fees multiple times, according to Ars Technica. He has about ten years of experience working on large-scale Rust projects. [1]

Ars Technica reported that the development will be funded by selling token-based access to the pre-existing Artcraft visual artificial intelligence model and integrated development environment. The Artcraft model is offered as an image generation option inside the applications alongside third-party models. [1]

Adobe Inc. is an American multinational computer software company based in San Jose, California, that provides creative software programs for photo manipulation, vector creation, and video editing. The new open source tools are free to use, but Ars Technica noted that they are currently nowhere near finished. [1][4]
