Genesys Capital has completed the second close of the Genesys University Seed Fund, Pulse 2.0 reported. The firm added Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and University Health Network as institutional hospital partners to back early stage Canadian life sciences ventures. [1]

The new hospital partners join existing investors that participated in the fund's first close, according to Pulse 2.0. Those early backers include the University of Toronto, McMaster University, Venture Ontario, the Temerty Group, and RBC. [1]

Both newly added hospital partners operate out of Toronto, Canada. University Health Network governs four research hospitals across Downtown Toronto, while over thirty hospitals in the city affiliate with the University of Toronto, according to Wikipedia. [1][4]

The vehicle targets pre-seed and seed stage investments, Pulse 2.0 reported. It focuses on life sciences startups originating from Canadian research institutions, universities, and hospitals. [1]
