Artificial intelligence lab Anthropic is preparing for an initial public offering that could value the business at as much as 2 trillion dollars, according to TechCrunch Venture. Newcomer reported that the company's pre-IPO fundraising forced venture capital investors to increase their fund sizes ahead of its public market debut. However, MarketWatch reported that time is running short for the firm to file the required regulatory paperwork for a potential November IPO. [1][2][3]

Investors in Anthropic are already sitting on substantial paper gains prior to the potential listing. TechCrunch Venture reported that Coatue, which first invested in Anthropic in 2025 at a 183 billion dollar valuation and co-led its last two funding rounds, has invested a total of 4.75 billion dollars. Coatue's stake is currently valued at approximately 7.5 billion dollars based on Anthropic's most recent private valuation of 965 billion dollars. [2]

The public listing process comes as public technology stocks face broader market volatility and questions over execution timeline. MarketWatch reported that a portfolio manager noted Anthropic could decide to remain private if market pressures build and wait for a better opportunity. Meanwhile, The Economic Times reported that AI stocks are experiencing fresh market pressure as rival lab OpenAI pursues new funding. [3][4]

The potential listing takes place during a broader surge in major AI deal activity. Newcomer reported that OpenAI is in talks to secure a 30 billion dollar fundraise to act as a bridge to its own eventual initial public offering. Newcomer also reported that AI lab Flapping Airplanes recently closed a 1 billion dollar Series A round, while AI legal startup Legora raised a 550 million dollar Series E round. [1]
