Irish artificial intelligence project Oghma secured a 500,000 euro investment prize after reaching the final round of the Stage Two pan-European spin-out competition in Berlin late last month. Silicon Republic and Trinity College Dublin both report that the investment offer was made by Caesar, a German venture capital firm that focuses on deep-tech, green-tech, health-tech, and fintech investments. [1][2]
Oghma was co-founded by Professor Stefano Sanvito, who serves as the long-term director of the CRANN institute at Trinity College Dublin, Silicon Republic reported. The project team also includes Dr Carolin Gabor, Dr Matteo Cobelli, Dr Luke Gilligan, Malte Brettel, and Dr Thor Stephan Stubner. [1]
The platform developed by Oghma processes unstructured and scattered scientific data into a usable form for research and development. Artificial intelligence systems use computational methods to perform tasks such as learning, reasoning, and problem-solving, which allows software to process information and make decisions. [1][3]
The new funding from Caesar will support the spin-out project in its goal to turn scattered research data into scientific breakthroughs, according to Trinity College Dublin. [2]
