Global artificial intelligence companies are accelerating their moves into South Korea to target the country's sovereign artificial intelligence market, 디지털투데이 reported. This sector centers on infrastructure that enterprise clients and government agencies can directly control. Palantir, Cohere, and Mistral are leading the current wave of international investment into the country. [1]

Palantir recently hosted its second pop-up event in South Korea to demonstrate its sovereign enterprise tools, according to 디지털투데이. Meanwhile, French artificial intelligence start-up Mistral has begun hiring local staff in Seoul. Canadian firm Cohere outlined plans to establish local corporate entities and double its Asia-Pacific staff count by the end of the year. [1]

The country is located in East Asia on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula and has a population of roughly 52 million people, with half of them living in the Seoul metropolitan area. As FTMQ Startups reported earlier, South Korean technology giant Samsung previously forecast a record third-quarter operating profit of 107.40 trillion won, driven by elevated global demand for artificial intelligence chips. [7][10]

The local expansion comes as market capital shifts from hardware chips to artificial intelligence software applications, KED Global reported. The push by international providers highlights a growing demand among South Korean institutions for self-contained software systems to protect sensitive data. [1][4]
