Preorders for Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo began on Friday, October 16, 2026, as MarketWatch and Engadget reported. The launch marks the entry of Apple into a foldable smartphone market that MarketWatch noted is largely dominated by Samsung and Google. [1][5]

CNBC reported that the starting price for the iPhone Duo is $1,999, making it the most expensive iPhone model ever released by Apple. The price passes $3,000 for the highest 2TB storage tier.
